Sometimes simple food tastes better than any fancy food.
Prepared lunch for tomorrow, bhindi and daal. Always think before posting a regular common recipe, but thought everybody prepares differently so decided to post 😊 anyways.
I prefer eating it with rice and kadi. But made daal instead which is also a good option.
- Okra 500 gms
- Grated ginger – 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds
- Coriander powder 4 tsp
- Turmeric powder 1 tsp
- Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
- Aamchur (dry mango powder) 1/2 tsp
- Gram Flour – 3 tsp
- Mustard seeds 1tsp
- Mustard oil as required
- Salt to taste
Wash the Bhindi/Okra well and let the water drain. The bhindi needs to be slit at the centre, take care it should not be sliced. The slit should be big enough to stuff the spice mix. Mix all the powdered spices with salt and little bit of oil. Keep it aside.
Stuff the spice into the Okra , remaining spice needs to be mixed together with the bhindi. Now add the gram flour and mix again.
Heat the pan and add oil. When the oil is heated add mustard seeds, let it splutter, then add ginger followed by the okra and saute well for 5 minutes. Keep the stove at medium flame and close the lid and cook for about 5 minutes. Open the lid and check if the okra is cooked, if not cover for few more minutes and let it cook upto 95%. Then remove the lid and increase the flame and stir for couple of minutes so that some of the okra gets crispy.
The okra/ bhindi masala fry is done.
